What is 319th special operations squadron?

The 319th Special Operations Squadron (319 SOS) is a United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) unit, based at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The squadron was established in 2008 and is responsible for conducting infiltration, exfiltration, resupply, and military intelligence operations.

The 319 SOS is equipped with the MC-130E/H Combat Talon I/II aircraft, which are specialized variants of the C-130 Hercules that have been modified for special operations. The squadron's primary mission is to support special operations forces (SOF) by providing transportation and logistical support, as well as intelligence gathering and analysis.

The 319 SOS has been involved in numerous high-profile operations, including the raid that resulted in the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 2011. The squadron also provided support during the 2011 NATO intervention in Libya, the 2014 US intervention in Iraq, and the ongoing War in Afghanistan.

In addition to its operational role, the 319 SOS is responsible for training and supporting other AFSOC units, as well as maintaining the readiness and proficiency of its own personnel. The squadron maintains a high level of expertise in a variety of special operations tactics, including close air support, parachuting, and airborne insertion and extraction.
